In the first rehearsal back after the break, we were pleased to welcome back Laura on cornet and Britta on flute, and several of our new members made it back too :-)

Bob took the band through several pieces in preparation for the forthcoming In Full Swing concert on 10 September, and, as usual, there were a few contenders for Star of the Evening. With several of their section missing, Julie, Clare (the football fan one) and Bob gave strong performances on clarinet. Despite their bagpipe-inspired entry to the Lion King, the cornets received several nominations - including from themselves. But tonight's award goes to Bill on euphonium, who finally managed to count to two in the Pink Panther and come in at the right place ;-)
