Road to the Isles Concert 2016

Updated: Dec 12, 2021

Concert day at last and what a concert! The band opened the evening with well known Celtic music, including from Braveheart. Some young local dancers joined us to dance to "An Irish Party in 3rd Class", which received tremendous applause from the audience.

The choir calmed things down with a couple of quieter pieces before the band concluded the first half with Lord of the Dance.

After a short break (involving yummy home baking), the party restarted with The Hebrides Suite. The dancers returned with a highland fling and Treol Music played a set which included Kim's great grandfather's "Stafford House" together with "The Ashokan Farewell". The girls were excellent, and we wish them well for the Arctic Fiddle Festival in Norway next week.

The choir joined the band for "All in an April Evening", and the second half finshed with Treol music joining the band for "The Gael", the Dougie MacLean piece which was the theme for Last of the Mohicans.

An excellent evening, well done everyone!
