There was a healthy turnout tonight despite a few people still being away (don't forget to come back!). Welcome to new players Stephanie on clarinet and Bill on trombone.

And talking of trombones, the trombone section is the recipient of tonight's Star of the evening award. Partly because, for the first time ever, they were a section (their elevated numbers prompting the comment, "Trombones are like buses, none for ages then three turn up at once."). But mostly for their careful reading - and following - of dynamics markings, especially during piano sequences.

We will be putting an ensemble out on Saturday 29 August for the Big Beach Busk at Portobello from 12 noon, hope to see you there.
